Tunnel support & GBR development

Analyzed soil boring logs and TBM data for the I-94 Stormwater Drainage Tunnel (Detroit) and Lower Meramec Tunnel (St. Louis); built statistical distributions of soil parameters for the Geotechnical Baseline Report.

Rock mass characterization

Determined RMR from core logs and geologic mapping data for the RDP Tributary and URDP CSO Storage Tunnels (St. Louis) to inform ground-support selection.

Subsurface investigations

Supervised 260 ft of drilling across 6 boreholes for the US-Westlake Brine Pipeline (Plaquemine, LA); directed SPT and Shelby tube sampling, daily logs, and client coordination.

Deep foundations & slope stability

Inspected micropiles, drilled shafts, and driven piles at Boston Logan Airport Terminal E; completed embankment slope-stability analyses for 28 bridge abutments on US-54/East Kellogg (Wichita).

ERT for pipeline leak detection

Designed and ran ERT surveys to image saturated zones around buried lines, processing 2D/3D inversions in Earth Imager and Res2D/3D.

Geotechnical lab testing

Performed PSD, Atterberg limits, and Proctor tests; maintained laboratory equipment and SOP documentation for graduate use.

Field risk assessments

Led field risk assessments and implemented practical controls for 10 drilling-and-blasting operations, improving compliance with site safety procedures.

Open-pit design support

Supported open-pit design and maintenance — stability observations, hazard reporting, and tracking of required corrective actions across the bench.

Pipeline operations & maintenance

Supported O&M of a 7.5-mile water distribution pipeline, coordinating field activities and verifying that work met project requirements.

Leak response & repair

Supervised maintenance and repair crews on leaking distribution lines, documenting issues and directing corrective work to restore service.

Core drilling supervision

Assisted geotechnical engineers and geologists in supervising 4 core drilling sites across the active pit.

Core logging & RQD

Logged core (orientation lines, meter marks, structures, discontinuities), calculated Rock Quality Designation (RQD), and supported QC/QA practices to strengthen data quality for geotechnical interpretation.
